This trade comes as part of Boston’s strategy to strengthen its rotation after missing out on other key targets in free agency, like Max Fried.

Crochet, who had a breakout season in 2024 with a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts across 146 innings, will add much-needed left-handed talent to Boston’s starting rotation. He is under team control until 2027, giving the Red Sox flexibility as they continue to build toward playoff contention.

For the rebuilding White Sox, this trade offers a significant influx of young talent to support their long-term pla
