Manchester United is on the verge ofnnouncing the signing of 17-year-old Paraguayan full-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteño, marking the first acquisition under new manager Ruben Amorim. Leon, who has already made appearances for Cerro Porteño’s first team, was recently spotted at Manchester Airport, signaling the final stages of the transfer process.
The deal is structured with an initial payment of £3.3 million, supplemented by £800,000 in performance-related add-ons. Additionally, Cerro Porteño could receive up to £2.9 million based on further conditions, bringing the potential total to approximately £7 million. After completing his medical examination and official unveiling, Leon is expected to return to Paraguay, remaining with Cerro Porteño until July 2025 before joining Manchester United for pre-season preparations.
