Arsenal dealt bitter January transfer blow as top target performs huge U-turn after talks by

Arsenal’s pursuit of Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo has encountered a significant setback. Initially, Araújo seemed poised to leave Camp Nou, with Arsenal among the clubs expressing interest. However, after discussions with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco, Araújo has decided to remain with the Catalan side. This change of heart follows his return from a hamstring injury and a strong performance in Barcelona’s Super Cup victory over Real Madrid.

Manager Hansi Flick praised Araújo’s contributions, stating, “Against Madrid, we saw that Araújo is back; his performance was very good. He is one of the best centre-backs in the world.”

With Araújo off the market, Arsenal may need to explore alternative defensive options as the January transfer window progresses
