However, after discussions with Barcelona’s sporting director Deco, Araújo has decided to remain with the Catalan side. This change of heart follows his return from a hamstring injury and a strong performance in Barcelona’s Super Cup victory over Real Madrid.
Manager Hansi Flick praised Araújo’s contributions, stating, “Against Madrid, we saw that Araújo is back; his performance was very good. He is one of the best centre-backs in the world.”
